Safety Town is a big success. The annual five-day camp educates children entering kindergarten or first grade this fall on various types of safety - personal, bicycle, pedestrian, fire, water, animal, electrical, school bus and poison safety, and teaches them when and how to call 911.
It's a joint effort by the Newberg-Dundee Police Department and CPRD, supported by local business donations. Sign-ups filled up well in advance this year, and the typical high heat of early August has staved off most of the week.
