Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Jan. 19, 2015

The fourth annual Chehalem Valley Community Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration will take place from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19th at Chehalem Cultural Center grand ballroom, with time for free refreshments and socializing after. This is a free, community event for the public.

The program will feature performances from George Fox University violinist Simeon Brown, as well as the First United Methodist Church Choir.

The guest speaker is president of Oregon Black Pioneers, Willie Richardson. The Oregon Black Pioneers is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization based in Salem, founded to do research and educate Oregonians about African-Americans’ contributions to Oregon’s history. Richardson worked for the State of Oregon in a variety of positions before leaving State Government and starting her own businesses.  She founded Willie’s Fashion Hats and More in 1996 and in 2003, A Time For Elegance. She retired in 2010. She has served on numerous boards and commissions, including four years on the Salem-Keizer School Board from 1987 to 1991.

Pool renovation and M 36-170

Thank you, voters and Chehalem Pool Committee, for making possible the renovation of Chehalem Aquatic & Fitness Center!


Updates
  • Measure 36-170 passed at approximately 62 percent approval
  • Election results have been certified in Yamhill County Elections Office, and ratified by CPRD Board of Directors at the December Board meeting.
  • At an Internal staff meeting on Nov. 10th, the staff, together with Board counsel, set standards for issuing bonds.
  • Request for Qualifications was published (appeared in Newberg Graphic on Nov. 12). These applications are under review now.
  • After RFQ is complete, Request for Proposals will be released.
  • Public information process will invite comments from public on submitted design.
  • Break ground on construction target 2015
  • Open doors 2018
