CPRD adds Parrett Mountain property for new park

Chehalem Park and Recreation Department is adding property to our parks inventory, and we are in the planning stages to open Bob and Crystal Rilee Park.

The CPRD Board of Directors on Thurs., Oct. 24th approved the lease-purchase on 300+ acres of property on Parrett Mountain (known as Parrett Mountain Farm) from the Crystal Dawn Smith Rilee Foundation, and directed superintendent Don Clements to work with CPRD legal counsel to finalize terms on a lease with the option to purchase.

The property will become a scenic nature park (making 23 parks total for the district) with trails which will be part of Chehalem Heritage Trails (the view is idyllic and includes views of major mountaintops).

Some of the property will be leased to farm, and discussion is underway of the potential for an historical museum piece to preserve the farming heritage of the land.

CPRD intends to lease immediately and anticipates closing in July.

Update June 2014

At its regular Board meeting on June 26, 2014, the CPRD Board of Directors authorized the superintendent to submit an RFQ (Request for Quotation) for a developmental and operational master plan for Bob and Crystal Rilee Park, and also a master plan for Ewing Young Park.
