Quilt raffle October 2

Got your tickets? Chehalem Park and Rec Quilters are raffling off a beautiful, 101" x 84" quilt to benefit FISH.

Tickets are available through CPRD, FISH, or the quilt group at $1.00 each or $5.00 for six.

To see the quilt, go to the Adult Enrichment Center. It's hanging proudly in the front lobby.

CPRD Board of Directors endorses Measure 76

CPRD Board of Directors voted to endorse Measure 76 at the September board meeting.

This measure would continue the availability of a portion of Oregon lottery funds for state parks; Oregon Park and Recreation in turn makes grants available to park systems including CPRD. The two most recent CPRD park development projects made possible by such Local Government Grants are Tom Gail Park (app. $200,000) and Herbert Hoover Park playground ($50,000).

The Newberg Downtown Coalition, the City of Newberg, Chehalem Parks and Recreation District and other local partners are working with Project for Public Spaces to develop a placemaking vision and a program for the public spaces around the Chehalem Cultural Center and the Newberg Library.

On September 15, 2010 PPS facilitated a public visioning workshop brainstorming ideas and opportunities for the new public space. We want to include your ideas in this plan as well. Please take this online survey and spread the word to friends and relatives.

CS Lewis Academy students help out at CPRD park

On Sept. 25, about 80 local CS Lewis Academy students removed invasive plants from Herbert Hoover Park and cleaned and organized the gym at Central School.

October all-day CARE days

FUN! FUN! FUN!

October all-day CARE days are offered when schools are closed. There are three days in the month of October when schools will be closed and CARE will be located at two sites only - Crater Elementary School for 1^st grade through 5^th grade and the Community Center for preschool through kindergarten.

October ALL-DAY CARE

Time: 6:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Locations: Crater Elementary School CARE site - 1^st through 5^th grade

Chehalem Community Center site - preschool through kindergarten

Field trips: Please bring a sack lunch on all-day CARE days

Oct. 8^th- Salem Children’s Museum

Leaving at 9:00 a.m., returning by 2:00 p.m.

Oct 28^th- OMSI

Leaving at 9:00 a.m., return by 2:30 p.m.

Oct. 29^th- Sweet Oregon Berry Farm pumpkin patch and corn maze

Leaving at 9:30 a.m., return by 12:00 p.m.

• This event is FREE to children enrolled in full-time CARE.
• Cost to all others is $40.00 drop-in, per day with 20% discount for siblings.
• Registration must be done in person at the Chehalem Aquatic & Fitness Center or over the phone at 503-537-2909 or 503-538-7454. (NOT online).

National Literacy Event at Rotary Centennial Park

A fun and educational reading fair awaits you and your child from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday Sept. 25 at Rotary Centennial Park (outside the Chehalem Cultural Center).
