There will be a free Medicare and You presentation at Chehalem Senior Center, 101 West Foothills Drive, Newberg, Oregon 97132 (adjacent to Crater Elementary School) from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30.
This
presentation will cover how Medicare works, supplemental insurance
options, assistance for people with low income and resources, how the
Affordable Care Act improves Medicare, and how to prevent, detect and
report Medicare waste, fraud and abuse. This session will be led by a
Certified Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance (SHIBA) and Senior
Medicare Patrol (SMP) Counselor. The SHIBA program is a statewide
network of trained counselors who educate, assist, and serve as
advocates for people with Medicare. SMP is also a federal program that
works to prevent Medicare waste, fraud and abuse. You may learn more by
visiting www.oregonshiba.org.
If
you are unable to attend or you seek personal one-on-one assistance,
you may call our local NorthWest Senior and Disability Services (NWSDS)
and SHIBA program office at (503) 472-9441.
