CPRD has submitted a grant application to the State of Oregon for bike and pedestrian improvements along Haworth Avenue (from Villa Road to Springbrook) and Springbrook Road (from Haworth to Middlebrook Drive) as part of  the Chehalem Heritage Trails project. This would fully connect George Fox University, Chehalem Aquatic and Fitness Center, Newberg High School, Mabel Rush Elementary School and the Allison for seamless traverse by foot and bicycle.

The City of Newberg has also submitted a grant application to help with the construction of bike/pedestrian improvements along Villa Road between Haworth Avenue and Park Lane.

As is always the case, competition for these types of grant funds is fierce.  As part of its evaluation process of the submitted application, the State has activated an online survey to gauge the level of public support for these proposed projects as well as others throughout Oregon.

This is your chance to weigh in. Participate in this by going to https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/TE_OBPAC2012

In the survey, input on the two projects in Newberg can be submitted under the "Mid-Willamette Valley" section of the survey. CPRD’s Haworth Avenue/Springbrook Road project is listed as #22 and City of Newberg’s Villa Road project is listed as #92.

The survey is short and should only take 5 to 10 minutes to complete.  Participants must submit  survey responses by 5 p.m. on January 31, 2013.

This grant opportunity is made possible by Oregon's Transportation Enhancement (TE) Program and Pedestrian and Bicycle OBPAC Grant Program.
