CPRD Sport Camps,
Tennis and Football Registration for June
Registration is open for Chehalem Park and Recreation
District first summer session of Pee Wee Sport Camp, CPRD Youth Soccer Camp,
and the new Oregon Rugby Youth Camp. Registration is also open for CPRD Youth
and Adult Tennis June classes.
June 15 - 18 This
is the 34th year of Pee Wee Sports Camp, for boys and girls ages 5 to
9. This camp introduces youngsters to a wide variety of sports and games in a
nonthreatening and fun atmosphere. Camp is held from 10:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. at
Jaquith Park. All participants receive a camp shirt.
June 17 - 18 The
first ever CPRD Rugby Camp, sponsored by Oregon Rugby, will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Chehalem Valley Middle School.
For grades 2 - 8, this noncontact camp provides a respectful and supportive
learning environment with fun and door prizes. Instructors are National USA
Rugby Team Member Troy Hall, and Oregon Rugby Developmental Officer Stew
Magorian.
June 22-25 CPRD
Youth Soccer Camp begins, under the direction of Jon Halstead. This camp will feature
lots of ball contact, small-sided games, and age appropriate skill development
for boys and girls in grades K - 8. Camp will run from 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at Newberg
High School JV Soccer Field. All three of these CPRD June Sport Camps are
accompanied by a $50.00 in District fee per camper.
Tennis lessons are offered under the direction of Dave
Brown. June 15 and 17 dates are set
for Youth and Adult Session I at Jaquith Park. Youth lessons for beginners ages
7 - 17 take the courts from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., followed by the adult class
for intermediate and experienced players ages 12 and older from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Participants are asked to bring a can of new balls. Sessions II and III CPRD
Tennis Lessons will follow up with July and August dates. The cost for adult
and youth lessons who live within the district is $33 per player.
Newberg Youth Football is registering players for the 2015
Tualatin Valley Youth Football season. Students in grades 3 - 8 for the 2015
school year are encouraged to register soon, as the deadline for registering
for this tackle program is June 15. Equipment
will be issued the week of July 27. Practice begins early August with games in
September and October. Players must sign a player contract and have successfully
completed a physical with a physician to be eligible. Fee is $275 per player
with a $50 discount for each additional member of the same family.
New this fall is Newberg Youth Football’s Flag Football program for players going into grades K - 2. Players will be introduced to basic football skills and drills followed by games at surrounding schools on Saturdays in September and October. Each player will receive a uniform shirt and will be issued a flag belt. Fee is $49.00 per player. Program begins mid-August.
